FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Huntington Beach, CA – TYR Sport, a leading performance swimwear and triathlon apparel manufacturer is pleased to announce the newest member to our athlete community, 2007 Ironman World Champion, Chrissie Wellington.
“We are very fortunate to welcome Chrissie to the TYR family – she represents more than just triathlon, she inspires people around her to be happy and to realize their potential. One would be hard-pressed to have a conversation with Chrissie and not walk away with a smile on your face.” says Ryan Dolan, multi-sport manager, TYR.
Chrissie joins the TYR team as one of the world’s top female competitors in triathlon. She brings true talent and amazing character to the sport of Triathlon. Just seven weeks before the 2007 Ironman World Championship, she competed in her first ever Ironman race – Ironman Korea. Chrissie won Ironman Korea and then went on to upset all competitors in Kona by capturing the world’s most prestigious Ironman crown.
Chrissie won the amateur world title while still working full time for the UK government. She then turned professional in February of 2007 and went on to capture titles in several events including the Zurich Olympic distance triathlon, the Alpe d’Huez Long distance triathlon, and the aforementioned Ironman Korea and Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
Self described as a sporty kid growing up who never excelled in any given sport but was always more interested in the social side of sports, Chrissie is set on using her triathlon success to help underprivileged sections of society. TYR is excited to partner with Chrissie on her two passions: sport and development.
