Triathlete and cyclist Charles Williamson, 70, of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, was struck and killed by a motorist last Thursday while biking along the state's Coalfields Expressway. Williamson was riding in the northbound lane and on the shoulder when a Nissan Pathfinder went off the road and collided with Willimason, reported The Register-Herald of Beckley, West Virginia. The driver was uninjured and no name has been released.
Williamson was an avid triathlete, runner, cyclist and Senior Olympic swimmer, having competed in XTERRA events and the New York City and Chicago marathons. He is survived by his wife, Gail, two children and two grandchildren.
